Date: 10 May, 11:00 | Related item: CMScout 2.08 to 2.09 upgrade[Download]

If you are using CMScout 2.08 or older it is vital that you upgrade ASAP to CMScout 2.09

There exists a security hole in CMScout 2.08 and older that can allow a malicious user to gain full administrative control of the site.

CMScout is dead, long live CMScout!

Date: 26 February, 02:13

After much deliberation and thought I have decided that CMScout 3 as it was will no longer exist. Instead CMScout 3 will be a specialised release of a new CMS called Infinitas (www.infinitas-cms.org).

Myself and the lead developer of Infinitas have been talking and helping each other out for some time now, and I realised that we are both heading towards almost the exact same goals and following almost the exact same development path. Infinitas is the most mature of the two systems, and so we have decided to rather focus our efforts on making Infinitas the best CMS available.

The CMScout project is still very much alive, however instead of being a independently developed CMS it will be a release of Infinitas with 'Scouty' plugins and themes built in

Serious security flaw discovered in CMScout 2.06

Date: 01 January 2009, 02:44 | Related item: CMScout 2.06 to 2.07 upgrade[Download]

Yesterday a CMScout run site was hijacked through a previously unknown security flaw. The security flaw enables a attacker to gain access to usernames and the encrypted passwords.

Please download and install CMScout 2.07 as soon as possible in order to protect your website.

Since it is not known exactly how many sites have been comprimised it is recommended that you change the password on all accounts that have administrator access. It is also recommended that you encourage other registered users to change their passwords as a security precaution.
